Opportunity

Opportunity…… such a word isn't it?  To search the meaning of this word this is what I found -
an appropriate or favorable time or occasion:
a situation or condition favorable for attainment of a goal.
a good position, chance, or prospect, as for advancement or success.
There is a whole lot of meaning there isn't there. And hmmm, ALL positive!  It made me really sit back and think about it.
Being in the I Ho Chuan has certainly given me a lot to think about, but one of the most important factors of this is the Opportunity I have been given. Yes, that's right - Given, handed to me for the taking. This is huge. There is opportunities all around us, big and small. We need to make the decision of what we do with these opportunities. Do we take the opportunity to make someone's day? Do we take the opportunity to accept feedback from someone, and use it to better ourselves? Do we decide that it is not worth anything, and do nothing?  In many ways, everyday, there is plenty of opportunities to utilize. In the I Ho Chuan we are surrounded by so much knowledge, and leadership, and talent. Not only in the I Ho Chuan, but in our school as well, in all levels of classes.
I had the opportunity to work with someone I had not worked with in the past, as she is not in my regular class. It was Great, as we realized we were practicing the same form, and bounced ideas and knowledge off of each other. We also together seeked out knowledge from one of our Sifu's, and both learned. This was a great opportunity that was not passed up, and I am thankful for it. Thank you Miss Poitras, and I look forward to working with you again!
We have so many opportunities with our fellow team mates, sifus, our kung fu school, our workplaces, our families, our children, and I could go on and on. I guess my point of all this, is be careful of what opportunities you are missing out on, you may not get the chance to take it again. If your lucky it may pass you by again, but what if it doesn't? Think about what you have missed, and what could have been gained. Maybe it could have changed your life, maybe not, but isn't it worth it to find out? Worst case scenario, your going to learn something new, or be a better person because of it, or maybe you will be that light in someone's day, that otherwise was just dark. Soak it up, and take it all in, don't miss out, once it's gone, it may never come back.
See you on the mats - pushing on, and pushing up!

Ordinary

It has been a couple of weeks since my last blog. This, I find is my biggest struggle. Life gets busy, I get distracted, there is always something to get done, blah, blah, blah. How do I go from ordinary, push my limits, and produce the desired result? Commit, pursue, assess, and grow. These are all things that Mastery teaches us. Time to re focus, and re calculate how to get there. Life makes it easy to be mediocre. I want more. Who will get me there? I will. Time to correct, instead of protecting.
Remove the excuses, and get on the path to greatness that awaits.

My numbers have struggled some in the last little bit, but am still on track for the year. Need to pick it up with my sparring time. My acts of kindness are struggling as well, not because they are not happening, but because they are not all being tracked - so, no measure, no reality. Again, the mediocracy kicks in.

Till next time - next week, pushing on and pushing up!

Numbers at end if week 9
Push ups - 9295 Sit ups - 9285
Sparring - 60 minutes
Forms - Weapon - 60 Hand - 83
Acts of Kindness - 129

Maintenance

This past week I focused on maintaining. This time of year is busy for most everyone. It’s also the time of year that people are running ou...
