Tiger Challenge 2023

This years Tiger Challenge will definately go down in the books as one of my most favorite, and memorable ones.

It is definitely Not because of how I performed. Other than the fight choreography with my great partner (thank you so much Todai Poitras, I had an absolute amazing experience training and performing with you! I so enjoyed the laughs, and the learning with you!) I myself did not perform well to say the least. I’m very dissatisfied with myself, but that is for another blog. Today is about the positive of the day.

I was once again able to be a part of so many great performances, great attitudes, and such positive energy all day. Congratulations to everyone that was there, you all shined, and I learned so much from you all.

I also learned a great deal in being able to judge for the first time. That is not an easy task! Everyone deserved a top score! I needed to dig deep, and do my best to have my eye for detail on par, and keep myself on track. It was an amazing learning experience, and one that I will be forever grateful for.

Again, well done everyone!! Congratulations to all, and our grand champions!! And thank you to all that organized this great event once again. Your hard work and dedication to bring this to all of the students and families at SRKF is so very much appreciated. I’m grateful to all of you, and all that this school brings to my life.

Focus

This week is needing hyper focus on my broadsword form. I am still struggling with the end of this form. I’m not entirely sure why I have auch a mind block with this, but it is really causing frustration for me! Which of course doesn’t help.

With the Tiger challenge less than a week away, I am feeling anxious that this is still happening. Focus is the key this coming week.

It has been a wonderfully full weeeknd of family and milestones. Time well spent, and great memories made. Now it is solely about prepping for the Tiger Challenge. Hope to see you all there!

Sharing my Journey

The one person I share the entirety of my Kung Fu journey with is my mom. I sit with her every Sunday, and after giving her her lunch, I read all of the blogs to her. I tell her about my week, and talk through what I am going to blog about.

Although she doesn’t share her thoughts any longer, I look forward each week to this connection with her. On some level I also hope it is keeping her connected as well.

Enjoy all the moments in life.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms 🥰

Busy Schedule and Keeping on Track

This time of year is always a challenge to keep on track.

Spring brings Real Estate season, and long hours at work. Although I am mentoring a couple of my team to help with this, training takes time as well.

I need to continually review and remind myself of my priorities. At this time of year, they are continually shifting, so I have to be extra diligent of being aware to not let anyone or anything fall through the cracks.

Surprisingly though, my sit up and push up numbers always increase at this time of year as well. I have been in the habit over the last several years to use these as my ‘brain’ break, and I need these a little more often at this time of year. It’s a nice little reset that helps me to refocus and stay on track with everything.

I am working some longer hours, and I may miss a few of the extra classes, but I always get a run down of what was worked on. This helps to keep me engaged.

Maintenance

This past week I focused on maintaining. This time of year is busy for most everyone. It’s also the time of year that people are running ou...
