This last week brought some progress with my forms. I still struggle with swelling and soreness, but recovery seems to be coming quicker. Class last week was difficult, but I pushed through and as always, am glad I did. If I don’t push myself, I won’t know my limits. If I don’t know my limits, I won’t improve.
When I am working repeatedly on certain moves or transitions in forms, I find this the most difficult. When I run through an entire form, there are uncomfortable techniques, but I can push through. I’m finding my limits with repetition, and I believe this is a good way to rebuild the muscles. I’m also getting to know the pain better and when something is too much. I’ll take this as progress.
I was a little surprised when it was so hot, as I swelled quite a lot just from the heat. I was concerned that maybe something was wrong, but then in speaking with others healing from injury or surgery, I wasn’t alone in this. As the weather cooled down some, the swelling lessened. I hadn’t been icing much in the last couple of months, but have started to again after more difficult classes, or lots of repetition. All in all coming along nicely, and learning to be patient.
